MPEG Board of Directors
Assistant Editor Candidate For Re-election
Ashley McKinney is a working Assistant Editor and Editor in Hollywood. She is currently wrapping up her first term on the MPEG board and is seeking re-election in 2025. As a board member she has helped several working groups and initiatives that seek to help members in need through the summer of strikes and recent restructuring of the industry. She is a working person with PTSD and a passionate advocate for herself and others in the industry who struggle with mental illness and disability.
Outside of her work with the Guild she has volunteered with Blue Collar Post Collective since 2015. She loves the world of Post Production with a particular passion for independent film, Comic book series, and all things Harley Quinn. Her love for Post is only rivaled by her love for hockey. She is an avid St. Louis Blues fan and can often be found passionately expressing her support for her team.
I want to see the Guild build a platform where members can engage and provide information that is not spread at the whim of an algorithm or cluttered and lost in an inbox. A place where community is at the center. Where we as the leaders of Post-Production can lift each other up.
As one of the creators of the Disability and Accessibility steering committee, I strive to create a more accessible and inclusive union. From interpreters for events, to pushing to change the guild constitution to allow for virtual attendance to meetings, everyone should have equal accessibility to their guild.
I will always be open and honest about my own experiences with PTSD, and I will continue to push to end the stigma around all mental health issues. I want to create more panels, provide more resources, and help everyone get the support they need.
Host more ‘We Are The Union’ events to foster more guild engagement among the rank-and-file membership.
I think it’s important for our guild to continue to build off of the momentum started at the Car Painting Event last year. More interlocal connection between the 13 bargaining unit IATSE Guilds helps strengthen our cause during negotiations.
Foster more mentorship within the guild to create a career ladder with plenty of opportunities for lifting others up.

I was a member of the working group of board members that researched and instituted the Guild’s Hardship Fund through the Entertainment Community Fund. 700 Members now have access to monies specifically set aside for them and can be obtained in addition to the General Entertainment Community Fund.
